The Portland Ceili Society is proud to present an evening with Randal Bays and John Williams of Solas. Randal Bays and John Williams will be playing Irish Music on Fiddle, Accordion, Guitar, Concertina and Flute. The performance will be held Saturday, April 29, 2000, at the PPAA 618 SE Alder Street, 8pm, tickets $12 in Advance and $14 at the door. Tickets will be available at the Third Friday Portland Ceili Society Dances or by mail (see below).
The Irish Times called John Williams "a musician of remarkable sophistication even for this day and age", and the Cork Examiner called Randal Bays "a very rare beast, a master of both the fiddle and the guitar." John is best-known for his work with the band Solas, and Randal for his recordings and concerts with Irish fiddler Martin Hayes. These two American-born musicians have joined their remarkable talents in a fiery duet, playing Irish traditional music with the kind of power and intensity rarely heard in any genre.
